1. Go to the “Manage my accounts” section of Hardbacon
When you are connected to the Hardbacon app, click the round icon at the top right, to access the profile section and select “Manage my accounts”.
2. Check if the connection to your accounts worked.
Once in the “Manage my accounts” section, you should see the list of accounts you have connected, and their status.
If the account you want to add is already there, and the word “Synchronized” appears at the top of “Status”, this means that the connection to that account was successful and you don't have to do anything more.
If your account status is “Not Synchronized”, it means your account has logged out for some reason. The first thing to do is try to click on the word “Repair” or “Synchronize” to repair the connection. If that still doesn't work, just remove the account from the app and add it again, following the instructions in step 3.
If your account does not appear on this screen, go to step 3.
3. Press the add button (+) at the bottom right.
At the bottom right of the page, you should see a button with a + sign. Click on it to add a new account.
4. Select the right institution
From the list of banking institutions, choose the one you want to add. You can also do a search, by typing the name of the institution in the search bar at the top of the screen.
5. Choose the type of account you want to add.
Large Canadian banks generally have several subsidiaries offering different types of accounts, under the same brand. You must therefore make sure to choose the right account associated with your institution.
Bank accounts include all the financial products that you find at your institution except for investments. This includes checking accounts, savings accounts, credit cards, lines of credit, etc.
Investment accounts are accounts that include mutual funds, stocks, ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds), and other investment products.
Please make sure you select the right type of account and the right banking institution. Otherwise, you will not be able to log in. If in doubt, we invite you to log into your account, via your bank's online portal, to note the name of the institution associated with your account.
6. Enter your account credentials
The credentials must be the same as those you generally use to log into your account on your bank's online portal.
Once logged in, Hardbacon can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours to fully analyze your accounts.
It may also take a few hours to connect. If synchronization takes more than 36 hours, please write to us at: support@hardbacon.com
NOTE
You may be asked to answer a security question or enter a code received by SMS. This step is important to complete the connection to your account.
