Hardbacon launches its revised and improved credit cards comparison tool

The popularity of our credit cards comparison tool, as well as our other comparison tools, has grown steadily since their launch in November. In fact, these tools have helped more than 45,000 Canadians choose better products since November 2020.

Faced with this success, we have decided to continue to improve our comparison tools, starting with the credit card comparison tool, which alone generates more than 15,000 page views per month.

Here’s are some of the improvements we’ve made to Hardbacon’s credit card comparison tool:

Compare specific credit cards with each other

A “Compare” button now appears in the upper right corner of the description for each credit card. Just click on this button to compare a card, or to make sure you don’t forget it. It works a bit like an “Add to cart” button on an online sales site, and each card selected with the “Compare” button can be found in the “My selected cards” tab. You can then compare each of the selected credit cards side-by-side in this way.

For example, here is the result obtained by selecting the most advantageous no-annual fee cards from Tangerine and National Bank:

Estimate credit card rewards based on your personal situation

Credit cards that offer cash back or rewards are very good, as in a way, they provide an indirect discount on anything you buy. Unfortunately for the consumer, it’s not easy to calculate which card, among all that exist, is the most advantageous in this respect.

So we’ve added a feature to answer a few questions to provide you with an estimate of the value of discounts or rewards for all credit cards, net of annual fees. This is because many annual fee cards offer more attractive discounts, but it’s up to everyone to calculate whether the annual fee is worth it for them. To take advantage of this feature, click on “Find the best cards”, and answer the ensuing questions.

With this feature, you no longer need to use filters to navigate through the hundreds of credit cards listed by Hardbacon. If what interests you is maximizing your rewards and discounts, just answer a few questions to identify the highest paying credit cards.

More credit cards listed

While competing credit card comparison tools limit themselves to presenting only their business partners’ cards in order to maximize their revenue, Hardbacon decided, from the start, to present as many credit cards as possible, in order to ensure that each user can find the best credit card in Canada according to their needs. We launched the credit card comparator with just over 150 cards listed, an already respectable number of cards. We are not resting on our laurels, however, as we have continued to add credit cards, reaching 219 at the time of this writing, which is more credit cards than any other credit card comparison tool in Canada.

We’ve made all of these changes in a way that makes life easier for our users, who can now find the best credit card for them by looking at just one resource: Hardbacon’s credit cards comparison tool.
